- Objectives – The objective of this research is to better understand the use of recycled post-consumer/post-industrial waste composed of HDPE and GFPP in the formation of structural members and the mechanisms contributing to the spatially varying material properties.
- Accomplishments – Viscoelastic models from the properties of the base constituents that include spatial variations in the shell and foamed core regions for recycled composite structures. Results have been extensively validated in a variety of loading scenarios and varying geometric configurations.
- Future Work – Viscoplastic characterization of structural composites, impact of viscoelastic response as a function of void location/size, cell size distribution characterization, detailed dynamic and real-world loading studies.
