- Motivation – Many technologies developed within the laboratory die in the valley of death. Multiple TRL-2 to TRL-6 technologies currently exist at Baylor on non-destructive inspection and evaluation of laminate composites. Baylor researchers work closely with commercialization partners to move the laboratory developed and tested technologies to industrial and federal use.
- Methods – Baylor University along with Verifi Technologies and Waco Ventures have established a perpetual pipeline of idea, inventions, and technologies to move them from the laboratory to the marketplace with speed and agility.
- Highlights/Accomplishments – In this effort we have accomplished:
- The first multi-scale contract to smoothly transition technology in areas of national needs for NDT/NDI from the laboratory to commercialization with Baylor’s commercialization partner, Verifi Technologies.
- The multi-year collaborative has completed 6 FAA 8100-9 Statements of Compliance with Airworthiness Standards, with 6 more in process on the inspection of laminated composites.
- Sic'em members established the commercially facing MTAC (Materials Testing and Characterization) facility, an ISO 17025 accredited facility.
