Now RFID tags can be categorized into four ranges of frequencies:  low frequency, high frequency, ultra high frequency, super high frequency.  Below are some common usages for each type of tags according to Wikipedia.    [1]

Low frequency RFID tags: animal identification, beer keg tracking, automobile key and lock, anti-theft systems, pets’ location.

High-frequency RFID tags: book tracking, pallet tracking, building access control, airline baggage tracking, and apparel item tracking, identification badges, replacing earlier magnetic stripe cards.

UHF RFID tags: pallet and container tracking, and truck and trailer tracking in shipping on the highway systems.
