- Problem – Current additive manufacturing (AM) solutions produce components with inferior functionality or reduce performance as compared to their traditionally manufactured counterparts, often making them unsuitable or too unreliable for use.
- Objective – Novel AM materials, methods, and on-board process enhancements, designed with the end-use in mind, are being used to expand the portfolio of additive manufacturing. Corresponding material-process-function relationship are then developed in order to better tune performance during material and component design.
