New Member Induction
New members who accept our invitation to Eta Kappa Nu are inducted at the end of the Spring semester of their junior year. Please visit the About Us page for more information about our member requirements.
Departmental Projects
As members of HKN, it is our honor to represent our chosen profession at departmental functions such as Premier Events. Our responsibilities include answering questions about our organization as well as those concerning our degree program and Baylor's campus experience.
Order of the Engineer Ceremony
The Order of the Engineer was initiated in the United States to foster a spirit of pride, individual integrity and pledge to the engineering profession and to present to the public a visible symbol identifying the engineer.
The Order is symbolized by the acceptance of an "Obligation" and the wearing of a stainless steel ring on the little finger of the working hand. Our chapter of Eta Kappa Nu oversees the ceremony for eligible candidates, both ME and ECE. The cost is $10 for the ring, and there are no other meetings, fees, or dues required to continue your membership in the Order of the Engineer.
Membership is voluntary and is offered to:
- graduates in engineering from colleges with curricula accredited by ABET (Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology)
- seniors in engineering in colleges with curricula accredited by ABET who are within two terms of graduation
- registered professional engineers
- special engineers who by reason of education, eminence and experience are deemed worthy of the Order
