Liang Dong

Liang Dong received the B.S. degree in applied physics with minor in computer engineering from Shanghai Jiao Tong University, China, in 1996, and the M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in electrical and computer engineering from the University of Texas at Austin in 1998 and 2002, respectively.

From 1996 to 2002, he was a Research Assistant with the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, University of Texas. From 1998 to 1999, he was an Engineer at CWiLL Telecommunications, Inc., Austin, TX, where he participated in the design and implementation of a smart antenna communication system. In 2000, he was a Consultant for Navini Networks, Inc., Richardson, TX. From 2002 to 2004, he was a Research Associate with the Department of Electrical Engineering, University of Notre Dame. From 2004 to 2011, he was an Assistant Professor then promoted to a tenured Associate Professor of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Western Michigan University. He joined the faculty of Baylor University in August 2011 as an Associate Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering.

Dr. Dong's research interests include information theory, communication systems, wireless networks, digital signal processing, cyber-physical systems, and microelectronics for communications. He is a senior member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), a member of the American Physical Society (APS), and a member of the American Society for Engineering Education (ASEE). He was on the executive board of IEEE West Michigan Section from 2006 to 2011 and on the executive board of ASEE North Central Section from 2007 to 2008. He is a member of Sigma Xi, Phi Kappa Phi, and Tau Beta Pi, and a faculty advisor of Eta Kappa Nu.

Dr. Dong received the Research Development Award and Faculty Research and Creative Activities Award from Western Michigan University in 2008, the Faculty Scholars Award from Western Michigan University in 2011, and the ECS Research Initiation Award from Baylor University in 2013.
