Goals
  • This course provides a general introduction to the Java programming language.
Objectives
  • Students will demonstrate an understanding of the basic syntax of Java.
  • Students will demonstrate an understanding of the fundamental components of object-oriented programming.
  • Students will demonstrate the ability to use an IDE to create a Java program.
Textbook
  • Core Java, Volume 1 - Fundamentals, 10th edition, Cay S. Horstmann and Gary Cornell.

Programming Assignments
  • This course will include 10 programming assignments.
  • Java source codes should be turned in on or before the due date indicated.
  • Late submission penalty is -10% per day including Saturday and Sunday.
Programming Tests
  • This course will include two programming tests in class on the dates indicated.
Grading
  • Programming Assignments: 100 points each
  • Programming Tests: 150 points each
  • Grading Scale: A (93% ~), A- (90% ~), B+ (87% ~), B (83% ~), B- (80% ~), C+ (77% ~), C (73% ~), C- (70% ~), D (60% ~), F (below 60%)
