ADS is working in the computer labs now, but a special procedure will need
to be followed each time you log into the computers:
To select the new license, start by going to Start Menu, All Programs,
Advanced Design System 2004A, ADS Tools, License Preference Tool. On the
left side under “Available License Bundles” y'’ll see
ltp_intdesrfde_combo. Select it and click on “add” and it should appear on
the right side under “Selected License Bundles”. Click “ok”, close all ADS
windows (if any are opened), and restart ADS, it should work.

For Quiz 5 (October 1), focus on S-parameters, ABCD parameters, and
parameter conversions. There will be no problems related to the
lecture on the different
transmission line types.
Project 2 and the lecture slides for Transmission Line Types (9/26
lecture) have been posted. Please print them out and bring them to the
9/26 class.
The contact and office-hour information for the
teaching assistant has been posted.
In problem 4.12, part (b) is worded incorrectly. Change the wording of
Part (b) to read, "Show that to have unidirectional transmission (that is,
S12 = 0 and S21 not equal to zero) that the network cannot be
reciprocal.
ADS keys were mailed to all APEX students submitting
key requests on 9/6. Please install and test the ADS software as soon as
possible
.
This course will require the use of Agilent Technologies Advanced Design
System (ADS). APEX students requiring a software key should e-mail
Dr. Baylis and explain the reason they need a key.
